Updates from Steve
I was able to attend CES (a yearly Consumer Electronics Show held every January in Las Vegas) for the first time ever this year and I was amazed at the sheer volume of tech on the showroom floors. I wasn’t expecting all the walking I would have to do but for me it was definitely worth it.
I loved seeing all the cool new tech on the main floors and in the huge booths. There were a lot of impressive presentations of new products but what I found most interesting were all of the smaller booths that weren’t so front and center.
In one of those smaller booths I found a company demoing their waterproof coating for motherboards and other printed circuit boards. This product really caught my attention because it can not only waterproof circuit boards but it does it in a way that the components on the board are still replaceable (unlike when they are covered in epoxy). The product can even be sprayed on connectors and they still work!
I'm hoping to be able to get my hands on some to try out at some point and I’ll let you know how well it works for me. Here’s a short video I took of the display, if you want to check it out.
More Updates
Did you know the TronicsFix Team regularly posts videos on THREE YouTube channels?
We have our main TronicsFix YouTube channel that's been around since 2015 but for the past year we've also had the related TronicsFix Longs channel. This channel is run by TronicsWife and Kirstyn, who post longer versions of the videos from the main channel. We make the Longs videos for those who are interested in seeing the full uncut repair process, or for those who like longer content in general. So far, the Longs channel has reached over 35k subscribers!
Our third channel is the Restorish channel. It is run by Robert, who restores(ish) various items including gaming consoles, controllers, and anything else that Steve can find in the office that needs a good clean. Restorish recently hit over 40k subscribers, and the most popular video so far (a video of him cleaning a bug-infested Xbox Series X) has almost reached 1 million views.
What Else is Going On
If you are interested in handheld PC repairs, keep an eye on the main TronicsFix channel where Steve will be posting some handheld repair videos in the near future.
Also, for our soldering friends, we have an awesome discount code for anyone who wants to buy the same flux that Steve uses in his videos. You can find the flux here https://collabs.shop/vys7n6 (affiliate link) and you can use the code TRONICSFIX at checkout to get 10% off your order!
Thanks so much for reading and we hope you have a good one!
